This week's task involved coppicing and clearing scrub from beside a ditches ride. We were to clear the alder and beech saplings into a 3 metre section from the ditch which runs through to Woorgreen Lake. We left a few hawthorn and birch trees to provide for the birds and butterflies. The cleared area should encourage butterflies and dragonflies to use the ride next to the ditch.
The morning was a beautiful autumn day but there was mightly rain storm in the afternoon which led to us ceasing work.
